研究内容(目的・方法)
海岸のうちで潮の干満の影響を受ける部分を潮間帯と言います。三陸に多い岩礁海岸の潮間帯には海藻や貝や甲殻類などの様々な生物が生息していますが、それらの生物が地震によってどのような影響を受け、その後どのように回復してゆくかを明らかにするのが目的です。そのために、地震直前の9年間に底生生物の数と分布を継続調査していた5つの海岸において地震後も同一の調査を再開し、得られた地震前後のデータの解析を進めています。これまでに①地震により岩礁潮間帯の底生生物の数と分布が広範囲で大きく変化し、未だ本来の状態には回復していないこと、②その回復の様子は海岸や岩礁によって大きく異なる、ことが判明しています。
